Abstract
Introducción: En la práctica del odontólogo general, predominan los hallazgos de
fallas vinculadas a dientes restaurados con anterioridad, y, ya que la pérdida de
estructura dental es irreversible de manera natural, resulta esencial tomar
decisiones de tratamiento restaurador mínimamente invasivas que eviten acelerar
el ciclo restaurador. Objetivo: Describir las decisiones de tratamiento en
restauraciones evaluadas por criterios Ryge de los estudiantes de 6to año de la
carrera de Odontología de la Universidad Finis Terrae. Material y método: Estudio
de tipo observacional descriptivo de corte transversal. El universo en estudio está
constituido por los estudiantes de 6to año de Odontología de la Universidad Finis
Terrae en el año 2021, correspondiente a 60 alumnos, quienes respondieron un
Check-list de opinión donde se presentaron 5 imágenes de dientes restaurados
acompañados de su clasificación según algún parámetro de los criterios
Ryge/USPHS modificados, para cada situación debieron seleccionar el tratamiento
que indicarían en cada caso: monitorear, reacondicionar, reparar o reemplazar la
restauración. Resultados: El 88,6% de los participantes seleccionó reacondicionar
la restauración categorizada como “Charlie” para “forma anatómica”, el 93,2% optó
por reacondicionar la restauración clasificada “Bravo” para “adaptación marginal”, la
mayoría seleccionó el reemplazo de las restauraciones calificadas como “Charlie”
para “caries”, tanto para la de amalgama (97,7%) como para la de resina compuesta
(77,3%), y, el 72,7% seleccionó el reemplazo de la restauración categorizada
“Bravo” para “adaptación marginal”. Conclusión: Las decisiones de tratamiento
indicadas por los alumnos se ajustan a las recomendaciones por los criterios
Ryge/USPHS modificados, lo que responde satisfactoriamente a los fundamentos
de la mínima invasión en la Odontología restauradora. No se encontró asociación
en las decisiones de tratamiento en cuanto al sexo ni la cantidad de años que los
participantes llevan cursando la carrera.
Introduction: In the practice of the general dentist, findings of failures related to previously restored teeth predominate, and, since the loss of tooth structure is irreversible in a natural way, it is essential to make minimally invasive restorative treatment decisions that avoid accelerating the repeat restoration cycle. Objective: To describe the treatment decisions in restorations evaluated by Ryge criteria of 6th year students of the Dentistry career at Universidad Finis Terrae. Material and method: Cross-sectional descriptive observational study. The universe under study is made up of 6th-year Dentistry students at Universidad Finis Terrae in 2021, corresponding to 60 students, who responded to an opinion check-list where 5 images of restored teeth were presented accompanied by their classification according to some parameter of the modified Ryge/USPHS criteria, for each situation they had to select the treatment that they would indicate in each case: monitor, reconditioning, repair or replace the restoration. Results: 88.6% of the participants selected to reconditioning the restoration classified as “Charlie” for “anatomical shape”, 93.2% chose to recondition the restoration classified “Bravo” for “marginal adaptation”, the majority selected the replacement of the restorations rated as “Charlie” for “caries”, both for the amalgam (97.7%) and for the composite resin (77.3%), and 72.7% selected the replacement of the restoration categorized “Bravo” for “marginal adaptation”. Conclusion: The treatment decisions indicated by the students conform to the recommendations by the modified Ryge/USPHS criteria, which satisfactorily responds to the fundamentals of minimally invasive in restorative dentistry. No association was found in treatment decisions regarding sex or the number of years that the participants have been studying.
