Introduction: Dentistry is the main reason for consultation in dental emergencies, its inclusion in the third Regime of Explicit Health Guarantees (GES), in 2007 allowed to respond to this situation, guaranteeing access, opportunity, financial protection and quality of attention to the population. Objective: To know the trend of GES outpatient dental emergency consultations registered in the public health network in Chile between 2018 and 2020. Material and method: Observational design of the secondary analysis type of the GES outpatient emergency consultation database of the Monthly Statistical Register (REM) of the Ministry of Health of Chile between the years 2018 to 2020. A descriptive analysis of the studied variables was carried out, The GES outpatient dental emergency consultation rate was determined for each year of study, according to “Sex” (man and woman), “Age group” (<20 years; 20 to 64 years and 65 and more years), and “ Chile Zone ”(grouped by North, Center and South zone) for the“ Years of study ”(2018 to 2020). The variable “GES emergency consultation rate” was constructed using the total of “GES emergency consultations” as the numerator and the “Fonasa beneficiary population” as the denominator, multiplied by 100. Results: There is a progressive decrease in the GES dental consultation rate towards 2020, where the GES dental emergency consultation rate is more present in women within the “sex” variable; in individuals between 20 to 64 years of age within the variable "age range" and Southern Zone within the variable "Zones of Chile". Conclusion: There is a sustained decrease in the rate of consultations for ambulatory dental emergency GES in the public health network between the years studied. However, it is important to continue working on improving oral health promotion and prevention actions to improve indicators in the general population.
