Autopercepción del desempeño clínico de estudiantes de odontología. Análisis psicométrico de instrumento en la Universidad Finis Terrae

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic had a high impact on dental students due to the high risk ofexposure and contagion of virus in patient care, which meant the halt of practical activities and the prioritization of learning. theory through virtual expository classes. Despite the sanitary measures implemented by the University Finis Terrae, the practical activities were limited, therewas uncertainty about the level of learning and clinical performance achieved by thestudents in the last year of the degree, without a validated instrument to evaluate it. General objective: To analyze the psychometric properties of the instrument that evaluates clinical performance in students of the clinical cycle of dentistry at Finis Terrae University during the year 2021. Methodology: A pilot evaluation instrument survey was created, based on statements extracted from the DREEM (Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure) and ClinEd-IQ (Clinical Education Instructional Quality Questionnaire) questionnaires, which was reviewed by a group of experts and applied to students of the clinical course of dentistry at Finis Terrae University based on a survey in Google Form. Subsequently, it was subjected to a psychometric analysis of internalconsistency and construct validation. Results: 102 responses were obtained, with a participation level of 73.91%. In Cronbach's Alpha, he obtained a score of 0.93% (95% CI, 0.91; 0.95) and the Exploratory Factor Analysis suggests two dimensions that explain the survey. The pilot survey has a high level of quality and is restructured in two dimensions. Conclusion: In this, it was evidenced that the self-perception instrument has a high degree of reliability and construct validity, which indicates the categorization of within the statements in two components of the survey called elaboration of the clinical history and case analysis " and “execution of treatment plan focused on comprehensive care”.
