This thesis seeks to answer the following question: What is the relationship between the perception of neighborhood safety and the quality of family relationships in the perception of academic performance of Chilean students between 7 and 12 years old, controlled by the educational level of the primary caregiver and the sex of the student? It seeks to address a problem that has had little emphasis in the world of social sciences, which is the consideration of the student's subjectivity in relation to their academic performance and how the interaction of different environmental systems causes influences on the perception of their own performance. In methodological terms, a quantitative design was used through the SPSS statistical program. The main findings indicate that both a level of unfavorable perception of neighborhood safety, and a level of unfavorable perception of the quality of the relationship with the main caregiver, as well as a level of unfavorable perception of the responsivity on the part of the primary caregiver, have a negative impact on the student's academic performance. This trend was also observed when the student was male, and his primary caregiver had not completed his school education. Furthermore, it is highlighted that the impact of the perception of the quality of family relationships, but above all, the perception of the quality of the relationship with the main caregiver, is greater in magnitude than the effect of the level of perception of security in the neighborhood and in the perception of academic performance.
