This article describes how the subject of Religious Education in the Costa Rican educational system, being secular in nature, can contribute to make practical the Global Compact on Education in a world with religious and multicultural diversity. It begins with a vision of reality where the historical origin of the subject in Costa Rica is expressed, since it obviously has particularities that distinguish it from other models of Religious Education in the rest of the countries where this subject is taught. Then some descriptive elements of Costa Rican Religious Education are developed based on some theoretical references. In a conclusive way, some considerations are presented that express that Costa Rican secular Religious Education is in line with the principles of the Global Compact on Education where the language of the mind, heart and hands is proposed, and can be enriched to continue contributing to the formation of the student body from a Christian anthropology open to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.
