The purpose of this article is to explore the notion of artistic practices and how they generate knowledge from the production process of Master of Arts graduates in Chile. This manuscript argued that the artistic process models a knowledge that emanates from experience, practice and the experimental system that contains it. From this quality, a qualitative, participant observation research study was carried out. The authors identified that there is a multiplicity of elements that are arranged by the artist, so there is a diversity of results. Those results are linked to previous knowledge and contextual elements that are claimed and uncovered in the artistic practice. Considering this, this study reveals that artistic practices experiment and exploit technical possibilities, aesthetic resources and theoretical elements. From this perspective, the artist, in the process questions the investigative practice, revaluing art in its critical role and responding in another way to how knowledge is constructed.
