Peñas urbanas: habitar la peña en Arica

Abstract

This project is developed based on my personal motivation, which is to work in Arica, where when investigating the different problems are found in the limits of the city. What are the limits of the city? From this definition, different answers are born about the difference between limit-border that are from the place, that is, that have to do directly with what is being investigated: natural landmarks. What is being investigated: natural landmarks. These natural landmarks are part of the geography of the place, which have been neglected due to the extension of the city and the overdevelopment of the area. The extension of the city and the overpopulation, and these places are the ones that are named as border. The borders are named, located, have to do with a context and a user. But these border are always related to improving the relationship between natural landmarks and the city. In the case of the hill, it is to understand that this border will generate hybridization between the city and the hill. In the case of the river, the main function of the border is to connect two zones of Arica. And on the coast, the border is to interact between the city and the sea. Along with this, it is identified that in Arica, in addition to recognize and understand the natural landmarks as an important landmark in the city, positioning it as a protagonist in the project: La Peña.
