- Resumen
With the arrival of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, the educational establishments' directors were obliged to integrate digital tools to sustain the links between the educational community, which led to various difficulties in communicating digitally. With this in mind, the need arises to explore the perception of principals of basic education schools of subsidized private administration in the Metropolitan Region about the digitization process for communication between families and schools. Therefore, this study was based on an exploratory-descriptive methodological design and the information was obtained through 7 semi-structured interviews conducted remotely and analyzed using Grounded Theory. The research found that there are limitations to the use of digital technologies, which do not allow for efficient digital communication between families and the school. However, principals are key agents to alleviate these diversities. It is also concluded that the responsible use of digital platforms turns these tools into a powerful resource that benefits the development of communication skills, with a view to a closer relationship between school and families in favor of students' learning. Finally, based on the perceptions of the principals, it is suggested to continue promoting ICT training actions for teachers and families, in addition to promoting digital culture in educational environments to improve communication.
