Abstract
Este artículo describe, por un lado, el proyecto de investigación y difusión de las experiencias vividas por inmigrantes italianos
que dejaron Italia para aventurarse al nuevo mundo a finales del siglo XIX y comienzos del XX; personajes que anónimamente
construyeron las naciones a las que llegaron. Además, profundiza en el proceso de adopción de ciertas herramientas tecnológicas
para el estudio y difusión de esta materia.
El estudio de la imagen del inmigrante italiano de comienzos del siglo XX es un tema particularmente interesante, al que hay
que aproximarse desde múltiples perspectivas. Una de ellas, la historia, analiza la inmigración italiana como números; datos que
globalizan el fenómeno sin presentar las narrativas individuales. Tampoco se detiene a explicar o difundir el cómo se desarrollaba
la vida de la gente común durante los grandes eventos históricos, es decir, durante los pequeños momentos en los que la vida
cotidiana es la protagonista. Estas historias —con su correspondiente documentación— son fundamentales para entender el
proceso inmigratorio cuando se analiza en pequeña escala, a nivel de individuos. Debido a ello, con ayuda de los avances tecnológicos
en digitalización, se ha creado un sitio digital académico en el cual se difunden estas historias y comparan las experiencias de estos
inmigrantes en las Américas. La página digital "Voces de inmigrantes italianos: Un viaje de descubrimiento" es un proyecto que
combina investigación histórica, genealógica y de archivo complementada con sociología, narrativas orales e historia social.
This article describes the research project on the dissemination of the experiences of the Italian immigrants who le Italy to venture to the New World at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century; people who anonymously constructed the nations. In addition, it delves into the process of adopting certain technological tools for the study and dissemination of this subject. e study of the Italian immigrant in Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century is a fascinating topic that can be approached from multiple perspectives. One of these angles is History which analyses Italian immigration through numbers, data that globalize the phenomenon but does not represent the individual narratives. Neither does this stop at explaining or disseminating the lives of ordinary people during significant historical events; those small moments in which everyday life is the protagonist. ese stories —and the documentation that proves it—are fundamental to understanding the immigration process when analyzed on a small scale at the individual level. For this reason, with the help of technological advances in digitization, we have created an academic digital website to share these stories and compare the experiences of these immigrants in the Americas. e page "Voices of Italian Immigrants: A Journey of Discovery" is a project that combines historical, genealogical, and archival research complemented with sociology, oral narratives, and social history.
