This research addresses the challenges of decentralization in Chile, from its historical origins to the present day, offering an analysis of the different forms of State; the exposition of the challenges of this phenomenon from a multidimensional perspective, taking into account economic, political and socio-cultural criteria. Finally, a detailed analysis is made of the constitutional proposals of the Constitutional Convention in 2022 and the Constitutional Council in 2023, as well as the approaches developed by the doctrine, mainly aimed at strengthening decentralization, regional autonomy, territorial equity and national development, offering a comprehensive and contributive vision of these elements to the reality of the country, within the framework of the constituent process.
