Background: The care of critically ill patients must be provided by competent professionals, i.e., with theoretical knowledge, technical skills and soft skills, such as emotional management, within a healthcare context. Clinical simulation is a tool that strengthens competencies and should reflect reality in both clinical and emotional aspects. It is therefore necessary to investigate the emotions of health professionals in relation to health care and Clinical Simulation. Objective: To interpret the emotions of healthcare personnel working in critical patient services and participating in in-situ simulation scenarios, in order to develop possible strategies to strengthen the emotional management of healthcare professionals in a private institution. Materials and Methods: Qualitative descriptive phenomenological study, data collection was through semi-structured interviews recorded and analyzed according to Colaizzi (1985). Results: The data were categorized into two main themes: Emotions in ICU and Emotions in Clinical Simulation. Adrenaline and Emotional Fatigue emerged as emerging themes repeated by participants. Conclusions: The study reveals the impact of emotions on professional performance and proposes to improve their management through in situ simulation, with a decalogue of good practices in Clinical Simulation.
