This research was born from the idea of evoking memories through objects that I kept in my childhood, seeking to give them a meaning and value that transcends their usual function. The saved letters I once kept are the main significant object. Those bring with them memories of painful experiences from that time, but they were the triggering element to carry out this project. Through them I was able to understand the power of language, both to cause harm and to heal. My work focuses on those experiences and memories; in the image of a bodily wound that has been inflicted in childhood, through painful words. From an artistic perspective, it explores the violent and profound charge of the etymological meaning of the spanish word ‘infancia’ (childhood). My artistic project aims to express the power of language and, in turn, represent the permanence over time of these marks inscribed on a body. These concepts are expressed through words and symbolic materials such as red thread and a blanket, carefully selected from my personal experiences. To bring these concepts to life, I use various media such as video, embossing on paper, and carving on plasterboard.
