Sentidos de la lectura y lo impreso en Al Paraná , de Manuel José de Lavardén

We do a rereading “Al Paraná”, by Manuel José de Lavardén, considered the first poem about local landscape in present day Argentina. Placed in its aesthetic and ideological coordinates (neo classicism and physi ocracy), the text responds to the intellectual medium during the last years of the colonial period, attesting as well to the impact of the press and the periodical press in that con text. Following the immediate readings after its publication, we see that the first reception recognized its extraordinary character compared with the poor poetic production of the time. A brief discussion about these first readings, somewhat exaggerated, allows us, eventually, to reflect on the ways of reception and valuation of the text in verse in the period.
