We propose a first approach to the public value and functionality the production of Almanacs had in the first decades of the 20th century in Chile. Dealing with almanacs is important, above all, a method of inquiry around a broader objective: that of reconstructing the social discourse of an era or period, an issue that, from our point of view, may well contribute to what even now it remains one of the most obvious theoretical complications in the nascent field of the history of social communication.
